I chose Celebrity Edge because of the date, New Years on a boat. The hassle getting there makes me question if the whole experience was worth it. Getting the Covid19 tests during another rush was a disaster. We had to order online, which was twice the price of going to Walgreens. However, you couldn't find a home test at Walgreens, CVS, Walmart, Publix. There was none to be found. So, I opted for the "stamp my forehead stupid" Celebrity kits and they made it in time. Check-in was smooth, no hiccups at all. Then we relaxed for a night expecting to dock in Puerto Rico, but it never happened. The PR govt, said no to our docking due their Covid concerns. At least someone has a concern. Celebrity decided to issue "on-board" credit to those that had booked excursions, forcing them to use the credit prior to leaving the ship.

The room upgrade: Be ultra-careful about this. You place a bid for an upgrade and if your accepted by Celebrity and you pay that's it. No refunds even if you just made a huge mistake, you'll live with it. Also, don't bid more than the room is worth. If you do Celebrity will not upgrade you to the regular price, they'll be more than happy to take your money and well...sail away?!

The restaurants on the ship are at best unremarkable, oh they make the plate look pretty, but the food is not something write about or gush over. The taste was not to my liking and I found a lot of the starters and entrees gimmicky and for show, not fulfilling or tasteful, and be careful as the chefs use a lot of salt. The best meal was the first night and that was a mouth-watering steak that super good and delicious. After that, the quality of the food and entrees will diminish considerably. The beverages are something to be wary about. What is "all drinks included" isn't really all drinks included. If you stay with generic soda, water etc, you'll be fine, but the minute you ask for Pelligrino you're going to be charged for it. We stayed in the Celebrity Suite and we had access to any and all water, wine, beer, etc in the Retreat Lounge, but when you step out of that zone and eat at a restaurant, they will charge you extra. Again, Celebrity tricks you on this, just be forewarned and be aware.

Cabin Review

Celebrity Suite

As mentioned earlier the cabin was spacious, but you'll pay a lot for the upgrade. Be careful when upgrading and know your prices before hand. If you bid too much, you'll not get any chance to make it right etc. So be forewarned. The bathroom was also spacious but one thing I hated was the bar soap in the bathroom. Bar soap!? What happened to liquid soap in the bathroom? Too expensive? Probably. The problem with spacious cabins it that they are forward and usually on the top floors, so prepare for sea sickness, we came prepared for all maladies, to include colds, Covid, heart burn and sea sickness. Highly recommend you do the same, you'll thank me for it later down the road.
