Not a 'cheap' cruise £7.5K for 2 weeks for two. Outward trip from MAN was awful delayed over 3 hours, usual efficiency on arrival in Barbados. First impressions of the ship, pretty standard for this level of cruise, public area decor pleasantly contemporary. Usual mix of entertainment, cruise director thinks he is a great singer (he is'nt, leave the singing to the entertainers) and would grab the mike at every opportunity, even getting in on the shows which we thought was hilarious.
It seemed to us a many fellow passengers that the ship was short staffed and the majority of staff were young inexperienced Phillipinos. The ordering system like other cruise lines has gone digital one consequence of this is that drinks servers seemed to give their attention to their tablets rather than to what the customers were saying. I always seem to come across illogical bizarre rules on cruise ships. On many occasions ordering drinks we were told "that is only available in the "Atrium Bar"....why.!! Small comment to Marella it would be nice to have a bar without music or entertainment all the time, the only place on discovery was Bar 11.
Several dining options on board, all freedom dining (we prefer Club Dining) no "experienced" staff in the restaurants, little evidence of managers apparent, not enough staff on duty, waiting for tables in what looked like half empty restaurants, waiting staff running around like Blue A**** Flies.
I know the cabins are due for a refit this year. Cabin was absolutely standard, reasonable size. Cabin staff were great, overall very good
