I was eager to go on a Christmas cruise. I booked one on the Carnival Horizon but it had to go into drydock so I signed up for the Regal Princess. After this cruise I believe it is a bad time to sail. The ship was at 60% capacity, which may seem like a good thing, but fewer people meant compromise. The food was terrible and repetitive. An interesting thing was that we were told there would be no cheesecake because the kitchen couldn't get any cream cheese. The lobster tail was 2" long. The activities on the ship were movies and Bible study, destination reviews, jewelry and art sales. There were some great game shows in the evenings and the violinist and pianists were great, all the time, every day. The shows were loud and some of the singers brought in for the cruise sang music that was out of touch for the age of the audience, such as songs by Bruno Mars. What 80 year old listens to Bruno Mars? The juggler and comedian were great. The first night show, called Bravo, featured some opera arias and was the best show by far. One night of Motown music and dancing was also great. The regular cast of 4 gave very nice performances, it was the singers brought in who sang songs either the audience would not recognize or changed the songs so much they were hard to recognize. The Christmas show was good except for the song, The Little Drummer Boy, where the singers changed keys off and on and the song went on forever. The band was way too loud at every performance making it hard to hear the words the singers were singing. The servers in every location were very nice and efficient. Everyone on the ship wore their masks all the time. We went to Aruba, Curacao, and Bonair,. We were in Curacao on Christmas Day, nothing open, and in Bonair the next day, nothing open. Few tours and no boat tours on each island. If you didn't go snorkeling with the ship, you had to get your own transportation to the beach and use your own equipment. For me, this was a boring cruise. I am used to all the fun things on the Carnival ships. Overall, the Regal Princess is for older people, like me, but mostly for people who don't want to be around kids or try new things, very low key. Don't take your kids on this ship. There is no water slide and no arcade.

Cabin Review

Balcony

The cabin was nice, clean, and modern. The balcony had two chairs and a small table and was nice. The space in the cabin was adequate.
