The Scarlet Lady did not disappoint. We chose to sail Virgin for two reasons: 1. No Kids and 2. Virgin's reputation for excellence. We sailed the Holiday 2021 cruise, 5 days with stops in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic and The Beach Club at Bimini, Bahamas. Setup on-line and checking in via the app was pretty straight forward. No trouble completing all the tasks pre-cruise and completed final health check-in less than 24 hours before boarding. We had not received our bands or bag tags, but no problems checking bags curbside with hand written tags. Tip the porters and it will pay off.

We departed out of terminal C and parked at garage G. Virgin provided busses from G to C, comfortable and fast.

Upon arrival at the terminal, we had to scan a QR code to schedule our COVID test. It would have been nice to have this completed prior so that we were not all standing around outside messing with our smart devices. Once that was complete, we proceeded inside to start the testing process. These lines moved quickly, we were tested and sent to a large waiting area. Some sailors were placed in rooms. We then checked in and received our bands. Approximately 20 minutes later, my husband and I had received our email stating we were NEGATIVE and could proceed. Have your email up and ready to show in order to continue boarding.

Cabin Review

Cabin was well appointed and prepared as connected beds. Everything including lighting can be operated by a tablet. Lighting is excellent. Lots of movies but little on live TV. Lots of shelves but few drawers for storage. We are light travelers so it suited us fine but for 7 days or someone who travels with a lot of clothing, you may be limited on space. Bathroom is a typical size for a non-suite and had a lovely rain shower head and wand. Shower door opens in which was a bit odd but no water on the floor. My favorite feature was the hammock on the balcony. Second favorite thing was the red throw. With that said, the bed was a bit on the hard side for me, sleeping on top of the comforter helped.

Hand soap is black soap...I loved it but some do not. I travel with my own bath soap and hair conditioner. Shampoo was great.

Port Reviews

There was a shuttle that would take you to the Beach Club, Resort World and the Pier. You could rent golf carts from whenever to 4pm at Resort World for $60. Taxi/cart from Resort World to downtown area was $5 per person each way.

Beautiful new dock, easy on and off. Some shops at dock. There is a free beach at the pier but keep in mind that it is not Virgin Voyages exclusive so if there is more than one ship in port, it could get very busy.
