My DH and I are experienced cruisers, but this was our first cruise with Holland America. (Previously on Celebrity, Royal Caribbean and Princess) I was excited because HAL has a good reputation. However, upon finishing this cruise, it may be our last cruise with HAL as well.
Embarkation: Fine, no problems. No line, just zipped right through. Port staff didn't seem to know how to handle a foreign passport and green card. (One woman flat out told us that she's a "minimum wage worker who doesn't have the authority to deal with these issues.")
Not enough spare luggage tags on pier so make sure to print your own if you can.
Cabin Review
Large Interior Stateroom
VERY noisy as of 06/13/2010. Known problem of squeaking inside the stateroom walls. Steward told us they planned on taking the wall apart after we left, so I hope it was fixed. Don't really have much hope.
