We received a great deal on a Christmas cruise r/t San Diego. We stayed in an obstructed balcony cabin and had no problems due to the obstruction. It is still a very nice view. Our beds were comfortable and there is a nice (though small) shower in the nice (though small) bathroom. This was a Christmas cruise, so perhaps that is why Holland served lobster on the final formal night. It is true though that the chilled soups no longer appear on the menu. I found the food to be good, especially the desserts and the chicken. Staff members were smiling and helpful. The new theater is nice, but I miss the bigger the production shows. The single set I saw of the BLUES band was great. The comedians were good. Trivia and Simon Says was fun. Service was excellent and friendly. As usual, Holland caters to an older crowd, and the pools were not crowded. Family were present as this was a holiday cruise and passengers are generally friendly and kind. We were turned away from Puerto Vallarta due to a COVID outbreak amongst the crew, but the ship reported that staff had little or no symptoms. I didn't mind skipping the last port since this can happen on a cruise (due to weather) and we were warned that these things can happen. It was a nice cruise though I will hold off on cruising for now due to the spread of the new variant (when I booked things were looking better and have gotten worse since our cruise ended). I want to let everyone know that Holland is still a good choice! Embarkation and Debarkation were a breeze as usual with Holland.
