Second time ever cruising, first time Princess.

I’ve been wanting to try a Caribbean cruise since my only previous one was Boston to Montreal (Holland America). I found I really liked cruising and as my husband is not really a warm weather/ beach type, I’d been considering a solo trip to points south.

Found a good deal on this 5 day trip and loved my quiet balcony cabin, aft. I had been under some considerable stress, having to jump in and manage care for our elderly widower friend over the past year and a half, right in the middle of the pandemic. This little slice of personal peace and quiet was just what the doctor ordered.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Balcony

This corner aft cabin was comfy and cozy with just enough balcony for this solo traveler to enjoy a morning sunrise the first part of the trip, and the gorgeous sunsets and beautiful moon on the second part. Bed was plush and comfortable, cabin steward Edward was very nice and responsive, and the room service was always on point for late night snacks.

The morning we docked at Puerto Plata, I felt and heard the engines working for the only time on the cruise. But I enjoyed getting up and watching the dock come into view, etc.

Port Reviews

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata)

OK assortment of shops.

Princess Cays

Good relaxing beach or active, depending on your preference. Plenty of room. I went right instead of left to the less crowded area, which is also where some of the crew and staff went.
