We were anticipating a great accommodation on what we were told was a newly remodeled Epic…oh…wait…remodeled does not mean that all passengers will have nice accommodations! The remodeling apparently only meant that the former gathering space on the top deck has been eliminated and is now high priced suites for a select few guests willing to pay for the privilege. The standard cabins are horrific! My husbands feet hung off the end of the very short bed, but he could have put them in the sink if he wished, because the sink was inches from the end of the bed! There is no bathroom…the toilet is in a minuscule space with a plastic door that was next to my head when in bed! I cannot for the life of me imagine how guests who are above average in size could manage to utilize the space! And the noise from the toilet flush precluded flushing at night. The lighting in the cabin was very poor…thank goodness we had a balcony which afforded ambient light…there is no makeup mirror, and the one and only only electric outlet is buried beneath the countertop, meaning you need to crawl on the floor to access the electric outlet! This was a 2021 cruise…USB port? Nope. Nada. None.the cabin was tight, poorly designed and not comfortable.
Prepare to be dinged $$$ at every turn. No niceties of cruising on NCL Epic. No dress night, no lobster and filet dinner, no towel animals to greet you each evening. Dance classes were held in the dining room where most attendees could not see the instructor, while the big screens throughout the ship that could have been put to use for visible instructions constantly played annoying NCL commercials 24/7. Other activities were poorly executed and there was frequently inadequate supplies to allow all guests to participate. Many of the instructors do not have a decent command of the English language.
On a positive note, most of the crew were friendly and accommodating even if many were not well trained and seemed confused about procedures. The ports were excellent and we easily found fun and interesting actives that were enjoyable. That is the only thing that rated three stars. We did not take advantage of the $85/pp opportunity to have someone show us how to take a selfie! This was our last NCL trip, and I would not recommend this ship/company to anyone.
