We chose to cruise on the Norwegian Breakaway for a number of reasons. 1. My 23 year old daughter is a Broadway fan and has been wanting to see Six and since she just completed a difficult semester of physical therapy school we decided it would be a nice holiday treat. 2. We are very covid conscious and were comfortable with the precautions that were being taken by Norwegian to keep guests safe, such as mandatory vaccination and covid testing prior to embarkation. 3. We cruised on the Breakaway in the summer of 2019 on a New York to Bermuda cruise and were familiar with and enjoyed the ship. We booked the cruise for my husband, daughter and myself as well as for my 82 year old father who has some mobility issues but is otherwise in good health and an avid cruiser.
Our experience during the week of 12/19 through 12/26 was exceptional. The ship was operating well below capacity so we never had to wait for dining or fight for chairs at the pool. In addition since the staff were not overwhelmed, they all went above and beyond to be helpful and take care of anything we wanted. In addition, I have been on cruise ships where the staff is overworked and underappreciated which can affect attitudes, but every staff person on the ship was pleasant and kind and did not seem to be stressed out.
We ate mostly in the dining room for our meals and the offerings were good and so was the quality of the food. I had Beef Wellington on Christmas and it was amazing! We also ate at Cagney’s and Le Bistro, both of which lived up to our expectations. We avoided the buffet for the most part except to have the crepes and salad station which we had enjoyed previously.
