My wife and I booked to cruise with Silversea for 9 nights aboard Silver Moon, their newest ship, around the Greek Islands, Crete and Cyprus. We booked directly with the excellent help of Lawrence Taylor at Silversea with an offer, we could not ignore, of free BA, Club Europe, return flights and $1,000 onboard spend! This cruise was postponed a couple of times due to COVID restrictions so we were relieved to arrive at Athens to be met at the airport by a Silversea rep and whisked off to join our ship at Piraeus. COVID testing prior to boarding was swift and efficient. We have cruised with Silversea many times in the past as well as almost every other all-inclusive 6* cruise lines; this was the best cruise experience by far. The ship layout, facilities, crew, service, food and beverages and general comfort was outstanding in every respect. COVID safety regime was always in evidence. We occupied a vista suite so no balcony out of choice. Our butler Amiel, was outstanding, attentive – without being intrusive and he stocked our bar daily and also arranged for our favourite spirits to be delivered. We ate in all the restaurants and the cuisine and service was superb. The entertainment was first class in every respect, not just in the theatre but also in the main lounge/bar. When we left Silver Moon we were treated to a luxury, escorted tour of Piraeus and Athens, including the Parthenon enroute to the airport. Sadly, we suffered an awful experience at Athens airport during which my wife suffered injury before we were eventually allowed to board our flight. We have now decided that air travel, specifically – airports are no longer on our travel plans. All future cruise holidays will be taken from the UK and return. Would we recommend Silversea – absolutely!
