Another travel company canceled our Christmas Market trip at the last minute and we were lucky enough to book a river cruise in France. We figured, at worse, if we were quarantined during the trip we would be on a beautiful ship watching he France countryside sail past us. Viking was very concerned with our health and performed daily Covid testing. When the US changed the requirements for re-entering the country, Viking hired a testing company to come on border and test all of the passengers and provide written results that could be presented at the airport.
The trip was beautiful. We spent 3 days in Paris, which included a bus tour of the city. We then proceeded down the Seine towards Normandy. The scenery was beautiful. We stopped at several quaint cities on the way. We took advantage of all of the free tours offered. We say where Vincent Van Gogh spent his last days, the cemetery where he is buried, and the church which was the subject of one of his paintings. We visited several Christmas Markets, and while they are nothing like pre-covid, we bought gifts to take home.
Normandy was very emotional. We visited the museum and the cemetery. Viking organized a ceremony and included some of the veterans who were on the trip.
