We chose this cruise because it left from Los Angeles and returned to Los Angeles which meant no flights for us. The itinerary was great. It was a treat to be back in Cabo and especially loved that we stayed there overnight. La Paz , Loreto and Puerto Vallarta were fun to walk around. The ship had activities going on all day and night. There seemed to be something for everyone, although we stayed in our room quite a bit as we like to read on the balcony. We tried the specialty restaurants and really enjoyed the Crown Grill which we ate at twice. The Slice pizza on deck was my favorite. Food in the main restaurants was ok, not great, but certainly offered many choices. All in all, it was terrific to be back on a cruise and the Grand Princess crew was great and seemed happy to have us all back. I gave the overall score a three not because of the ship, the crew, the restaurants, the ports or activities. I would give them all a five. My score is because of a problem we had with our cabin. When I cruise, I like to read on the balcony and I was unable to most of the time because of the heavy cigarette smoke. I understand that the crew has a place in the aft to recreate and smoke. They need and deserve this but something has to be done with the smoke.
We had a suite in the aft of the ship. I like to read on my balcony a lot but I could not use my balcony because of the heavy cigarette smoke most of the time. It nearly ruined my trip. The room itself was very nice but could not make up for the inability for me to be outside.
