Since our April 2020 cruise on the Bliss was cancelled, I've been rebooking and hoping that the sailing would go ahead. Travelling from Canada posed additional challenges, and then everything came together to enable this seven-day Mexican Riviera trip to go ahead in early December. As I write (in mid December), new travel advisories are going into effect so I will savor the lingering feelings of relaxation and joy from this trip.
Cruising during the start-up months is an unprecedented experience. Ships are sailing with less than half the guest capacity and crew are going above and beyond with devoted attention. Guests and crew are all grateful to be back to cruising. The Bliss has a 4,000 person guest capacity, and there were only 1,900 of us aboard.
We started by completing our online check-in 21 days before your sail date. At that time we chose 10-10:30 am arrival time, and registered with Eurofin (the company doing the Covid testing).
Cabin - balcony stateroom. The balcony staterooms are configured in two different ways. You either have the bed beside the balcony, and sofa beside the closet, or the bed is beside the closet and sofa beside the balcony. This room had the bed beside the closet, which is tight to get into the closet. On the bright side, you can relax on your sofa with a view of the ocean. Everything was exceptionally clean, and we lacked nothing for service. Steward Jerome was extremely attentive and hard working.
We very much enjoyed the end of cruise tour of LA and Farmers Market, hosted by Alan, with driver Alan. We learned a lot about LA, made a few very interesting stops, and enjoyed lunch at the historic Farmers Market before being delivered to LAX.
