I have cruised with Carnival, Royal Caribbean, and Norwegian in the past and always had great cruising experiences. I was deterred by DCL’s hefty price tag, but I was convinced to give it a go when my family wanted to go as a joint birthday/Christmas celebration. Overall we all had a great time, and have already put down a deposit for our next cruise!

Embarkation was easy, and the staff was extremely helpful in ensuring we had all our required paperwork and documentation, especially since we were also traveling with a service dog. For some reason we weren’t able to do online check in, but I attribute it to, potentially, one person in our party backing out last minute and I never got the chance to get her name removed from the reservation. But we were able to get everything done at the port. Lunch was available as soon as we got onboard at the poolside.

You can park at the port for about $85 for a 5 day, 4 night cruise.

Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah

We had a Verandah stateroom, just enough to fit 3 people and our service dog. One queen bed and one bunk bed. Bathtub and toilet were separate, a godsend for when you have 3 people in a small room clamoring for bathroom space! The amenities were wonderful, from their H2O brand, and included body wash, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion. A step up from other cruise lines that offered generic brands, or none at all.

Our steward was Ryan and he was very pleasant. Bed was so so comfortable. If I can make a suggestion, can we have wall USB ports installed? Otherwise there were plenty of outlets. Room was thoroughly cleaned daily and they also gave us a generous patch of “turf” for our dog to use the bathroom. The balcony was also a nice place to just go and watch the ocean or goings on of the port from the comfort of your own room.

No complaints here!
