Long time cruiser here. Sailed on Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Norwegian and Holland America. However, this is my first time to be on a ship like this and wow! I was just blown away daily by how amazing it was. Just to walk around on this amazing vessel was an experience. The promenade feels more like a shopping mall than a ship, and Central Park is just like nothing else you have ever seen on a ship with live trees and plants everywhere. Also for me, the entertainment was a step above any other cruise I have been on. The ice skating show was fantastic, as was the high diving show. Again personally I couldn't believe I was having either of these experiences on a cruise ship! I also enjoyed Cats, although I saw a lot of people walk out who didn't "get it". "Hush" was amazing. There was a great turnout for this dance where you wear headphones and can switch on the fly between two different DJs, one playing more traditional dance and the other playing primarily reggaeton. The lights were so cool and people were really into it. I loved taking off the headphones and laughing at just hearing feet shuffling and bad singing. lol After all this gushing, I should say it wasn't all perfect. Many reviewers complain about the food being mediocre, and I can agree with them. For me, especially Loco Fresh should be called Loco Not So Fresh. Breakfast in the Windjammer was consistently the best meal. You could get fresh eggs or omelets and it's hard to mess up bacon, sausage and hash browns. There was also a terrific variety of other non-traditional selections. Dinner in the dining room had incredible selections like lobster. It was always presented exquisitely, but tasted average. In their defense, they are serving thousands of people all day everyday on a ship. It's not like they can go to the market to get fresh food every day, and it has to be hard to produce that quantity of food. Personally, I have never had 5 star restaurant food on any cruise line. I don't expect it, so it's fine for me. But I wanted to be honest about lowering expectations for any foodies that might be reading this. I guess I should mention that with covid, there are no more buffets. Personally I LOVE this. I was thrilled my fellow passengers couldn't put their grubby paws on my food, and hope this will be a permanent change. And for me personally, I also appreciate the vaccination and mask requirements. I have an underlying condition, so I have zero problems with these protocols to help keep me alive. People on the ship were generally good about respecting each other. Moving on, our cabin was typical of any other cruise lines. My biggest gripe is that with modern phones and devices it would be really nice to have had outlets or USB ports by the bed especially now that the app plays such an important role. Otherwise, I could go on and on about how wonderful Oasis of the Seas is, but will close by saying it was by far the most beautiful ship with the best entertainment I have ever experienced and I would highly recommend it to anyone!!!
