After a Viking Ocean Cruise in Sept. 2021 leaving from Malta to Croatia

We had such a good time that we booked another cruise this November, having just returned I feel that there are a few things that other guests should be aware of. The cruise ship this November was the Orion leaving from Ft Lauderdale to Los Angeles through the Panama Canal an 18 day cruise. Our Malta cruise in Sept was on the Viking Sea 11 days. Both ships fantastic, clean, Scandinavian design, nicely decorated, wonderful spas, great food, super service. Our cabins were the same very nice, functional furniture, nice entertainment systems, verandas etc.

The difference in the system between the 2 ships was evident on the embarkation. Guests were subjected to a covid test 24 hrs before your flight, then a covid test when you get off the plane before boarding the ship. Wait 20 minutes for the results of that test then you are directed to registration. After registration you’re issued a tracking device and your key card identification card. You make your way to your cabin and you are greeted by a staff member wanting to test you for covid before you even unload your things. I know for safety’s sake I get it and I applaud Viking’s efforts of every day testing and monitoring temperatures and health survey better safe than sorry but be a little patient.
