As I had been twice(Galapagos and Papua New Guinea) with Silversea and had a good experience, I thought Antarctica with them would be a good choice… how wrong I was!
Silversea put all it’s passenger at risk of getting covid, because of allowing a group of people who were together with 2 positive covid cases, detected on arrival at Santiago airport, to board the ship. From those people, 2 of them developed covid,3 days on the cruise. They were evacuated to King George Island and the itinerary suffered from that: it missed Elephant Island. One of the covid patients died some days later in Punta Arenas.
On the last day of our cruise, and before docking in Punta Arenas, we all had to be tested by Chilean Health authorities due to covid cases on board. The next morning we were supposed to get our results and be allowed to disembark. Silversea put us all out of our cabins at 0800 AM, because we were supposed to be out of the ship, around 11 AM. At 15.00 Pm we were still on board, uncomfortable and without a meal. After some protesting they decided to feed us something, and sent everybody to the outside grill deck restaurant…inside restaurant was forbidden because it had already been cleaned for next cruise…
