Background
Given the Covid-19 pandemic, we wondered whether cruising now could be both safe and enjoyable. Based on our cruise on Emerald Princess that departed on November 6th, the answer is definitely yes! We had an amazingly great ten days, and look forward to many more cruises in the future.
Princess has adopted Covid protocols that provide effective public health safeguards, while also ensuring that the cruise experience is fun and relaxing. This includes requiring that all passengers and crew are fully vaccinated as well as tested for Covid within two days of the start of the cruise. The result for us was that we felt safer on the Emerald Princess than we do when we shop at our local supermarket.
Our balcony stateroom on the Riviera (14th) deck was ideal for us. We had a great view of the ocean and of the ports we visited. We were fortunate to have wonderful weather to enjoy our time sitting on the balcony, with beautiful sunsets and sunrises. I never expected to be impressed with how remarkably comfortable the bed was, and this may have been one of the improvements Princess made during the pause in cruising.
While we were in a basic balcony stateroom. we had adequate space for everything we needed.
