This was our first river cruise. We have cruised on many different lines over the years and the last few have been mainly Silversea and Seabourn. We were not sure what to expect and were surprised with the level of service on the Ama Magna and the quality of the ship. Joking referred to as the "double wide" it made for a very spacious feeling on board. The staff were extremely attentive and the cruise director, Raul Dederichs couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. The food was outstanding. Every meal was a gourmet delight! There was such a variety of tours and all levels of fitness were taken into account. One could do a walk in town with a "gentle" group or a little faster pace. There were bicycles on board for bike rides (we never seemed to find the time to try them out and as we had not ridden since childhood, we were a little intimidated to take the bike tours!). There was also a lovely gym with all kinds of classes to suit every need if one so desired.
The cabin was beautifully laid out with plenty of storage and hanging space. We loved having the toilet separate from the shower and being able to close off the entire entry/shower/toilet area from the main cabin. Each cabin had an ipad and Apple computer and a tv. All in all very spacious. The balcony was a good size but as it was cold we didn't use it much.
We just had a morning there and it was a walking tour with a beer tasting and charcuterie. Very quaint.
We got to Budapest a couple of days earlier to explore a bit. The boat moved from down the river to the main part of Budapest the first evening so we were able to experience the beautiful city all lit up. We did a walking tour with the ship the next morning.
This was a delightful tour. We walked into the beautiful little town which is surrounded by vineyards and then we did the Apricot products tasting. Yummy! Liqueur and brandy, jam and chocolate!
We opted to go the Czeck Republic in the afternoon to visit Cesky Krumlov instead of doing the whole day tour to Salzburg. In the morning we did a walking tour of Linz. I can highly recommend it!
What a stunning city. It was so nice to have a free evening there to explore a little more. We did a walking tour in the morning and then Schonbrunn in the afternoon.
Sailing into Passau in the early morning was beautiful. We did a little walking tour in the morning.
