Additional details

Sail Date: Sep 2021
Cabin: Deluxe Ocean-View Verandah Stateroom

Really enjoyed the cruise. Being out and about on the ship, feeling the ship as it rocked and rolled with the seas, dining in the various facilities, seeing the Alaskan sights and sounds.

All in all - it was a great re-start for the cruising.

❖Boarding was extremely quick and efficient. First station reviewed the passports, vaccinations, & test results, then security scan, then Face scan for ID (One worked, one did not-had to rescan the photo). All done in 15 minutes start to finish.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Ocean-View Verandah Stateroom

❖Cabin was clean and well tended when we arrived

❖Bed lamps had USB ports - which was a convenient addition - had not seen before .

❖Asked for additional Egg Crate Topper for the bed and it was installed when we went out for dinner that evening.

❖Cabin service was consistent. Originally told cabin service was once per day, We asked for cabin service at 11 AM (when we went to the lido for lunch), and at 5:30 when we went for dinner

❖ Asked for fresh ice delivery each service - happened every time - except once.

Port Reviews

❖Did a HAL Whale watch/Glacier/dinner in Juneau

Enjoyed seeing several small groups of Whales. Saw several pods of whales. Lower level of the boat was enclosed. They provided towels to clear the windows which tended to get fogged up with all the people breathing. They provided Hot Coffee & Chocolate.

Dinner portion was cancelled due to wind & Weather. But we had been out on the water for several hours and the wind/weather were not interesting at all - so not sure i am not quite sure that was the full story. HAL did refund for that segment and it appeared that night for the cancelled portion.

We did a HAL Birds, Bears & Barnacles tour in Sitka - really enjoyed seeing the eagles and raptors. If you have never stood near a full grown eagle - you really really should at least once in your life. In the yard it was great to listen to them communicate to each-other.

The Black Bears are in an open fenced area you can see into - there were three I think. The large Grizzly Bears are in a very large circular area that you looked down into. They are impressive when they stand up.

The Barnacles portion is a small aquarium with several tabletop height tanks you can see up close the barnacles and small sea life.
