I was excited to sail again and was looking forward to Princess' new Medallion Class experience. Using the Princess app made pre-embarkation easy. Completing all off the forms and uploading ID photos in advance made check-in at the pier a breeze. Of course, there were only 565 passengers (on a ship with a capacity of 2600) on this short voyage so there were no lines. In California, proof of vaccination and a negative COVID test are required in order to board.

After check-in you are issued your Medallion (if not pre-ordered), which replaces the old key-card. It is used for everything, starting with checking-in at security at boarding. Your stateroom door unlocks as you approach and a panel displays your name and your uploaded photo. Often at bars and lounges, the Medallion was automatically read by the sensors and the crew member would address you by name. No signing tabs and keeping track of receipts. You can use the Medallion interactively around the ship for personalized guidance and information.

The ship is in good condition. There were minor issues in the cabin: the towel rack came apart but was easily put back together; the pull for the draperies seemed as if it would soon detach itself. Other than those two issues, the cabin was clean and comfortable.
