Both of us are Diamonds and Casino at Sea members so we did get some perks, like free laundry and a Captains Lunch for Diamonds and Platinums. We got a great casino offer (free room and drinks in the casino) for this cruise actually had a good time in the updated two level (smoking on 5, nonsmoking on deck 4)casino. Great new games and terrific hosts there.

The Good: As usual, Carnival has the best pizza at sea and their deli was outstanding, especially the Cubano sandwich, which rivaled any in Miami. Kudos to Carnival for having two floors of casinos, (see above). The smoking one had better stuff but if not breathing smoke or wanting a smaller quieter gaming experience, the 4th deck casino would be for you. Clean, tasteful ship with the best cabin stewards ever.

The Bad: Entertainment. TV didn't work so the cabin guy had to crawl up and unplug it twice, get a new remote and it worked. Tried to call maintenance three time but nobody answered. We had to crawl up and unplug it every morning to get the pitiful TV. One news chanel (CBSN, which was only concerned with the environment and social issues, 5 Carnival channels, 2 movies, discovery and an old TV show channel. No real news, ABC, NBC, FOX CNN or any sports or ESPN channels.

Cabin Review

We loved our cabin. Deck 2 above the engines gave us some great white noise and we slept until 8:00 every morning. Hint: split the bets and you get 4 feet between the beds to navigate the room. It make the room so much bigger. TV was horrible, when it worked. Cabin stewards Made and Krystal we one of our top 3 teams ever and we have been on 65 cruises. They were efficient, charming and funny. They got us anything we wanted and anticipated our every need. Room was clean, organized and stayed that way.

Port Reviews

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata)

We got this cruise for a few hundred dollars of port charges and taxes. Amber Cove is clean, well maintained and plenty of junk to buy. Nothing different from other Carrib ports but has a nice beach area and some fun tours of the area.
