I would avoid NCL if you suffer from allergies/intolerance or eat plant based/vegan diet, its extremely difficult and stressful to eat on board. It became a hunt for food to sustain and never about pleasure of eating.

Several weeks before the cruise we were asked to fill out allergen request. We were told that only food allergies would be accommodated not intolerances. NCL had also decided that gluten free could be accommodated and yet could not accommodate food requests that were religious or lifestyle e.g halal, organic or vegan menus would not be offered. As someone who has a dairy allergy but usually eats a plant based diet, only the dairy allergy would be handled. We reached out to NCL travel agent and we were reassured that NCL could handle vegan options and allergies with ease as they are cooking the majority of food onboard. When we arrived we were told we had someone on board that would coordinate the food, so I asked which restaurants I could eat in. Told all food had to be requested 24hrs in advance based off next day restaurant menu and they will just take out food I'm allergic to. There is no labelling on any restaurant menus for major allergens and we weren't provided with one through the cruise. There are no vegan options on any of restaurant menus. I was told their policy to remove items from the menu provided but this was immediately difficult when the limited vegetarian dishes are based on cheese or rest menu around meat/fish dish.

The buffet was difficult > No salad bar, they only had prepared salads which contained bacon or cheese every day. I was told I could not eat the fries as cross contaminated with other fried foods, majority of bread contained milk including the gluten free bread, the veggie burger wasn't vegan, all the vegetarian curries, sauces and soups contained dairy. All the pasta options contained meat or dairy. So the basics you can eat on a plant based diet were immediately excluded. Again providing veggie options as vegan with sauces or cheese that can be added as extra would have been simple to do. Its only talking to executive chef several days into the cruise that a small menu was provided for food that they cook the next day, this was only for lunch and a menu was never offered for restaurants at dinner including those that were premium/extra cost.
