We had cancelled 4 cruises because of the pandemic and finally had to use insurance we had paid for. So we booked a back to back on the Edge.
We had a Spa Suite enabling us to eat at Luminae (the private dining room for suites), lounge by the reserved pool and use the private lounge. It was a beautiful 2 weeks weather wise and there was not one case of Covid on the ship. There were a couple of children wearing masks required but of adult passengers only 10% wore them. You had to wear them on tours and in shops on the islands. We rarely went off the ship. Our first week found 800 Passengers and the second week 1300. The ship can hold 2900. Never any trouble getting a seat in any venue. Martini Bar our favorite as comfortable seating, wonderful music, and antics displayed by the bartenders. We ate dinners mostly at Luminae and found the food very good. for breakfast we preferred the Ocean View buffet (all food is served by attendees and eggs are made to order. There is plenty of smoked salmon, fruits, yogurts, etc. Also there is a Barrista making specialty coffees at one of the stations (extra price or on many beverage deals. We also preferred lunch there. So many choices and great salad bar. Display of desserts was mind boggling. One night we went to Prime Cut and ordered the 30 ounce bone-in NY cut steak and lobster tails which we were planning to share. The steak was so tough and full of sinews that we got the $55 back for it. Steaks were much better at Luminae. The first night was a half price deal at any specialty restaurant so we made a reservation at Eden. It was a wonderful dinner comprising of a tasting menu. I am gluten free and they totally accommodated me.
Our suite was lovely but the one thing that turned us off from booking any future cruises was the configuration of the shower in the bathroom. One had to step over the side of the tub to get in. My husband has had a hip replacement and bad knees and we are both seniors. We definitely prefer a stand alone shower.
