Some good, but overall it fell well short of expectations. Avoid this ship and probably RC altogether.

Sail Date: Oct 2021
Cabin: Owner's Suite - 2 Bedrooms
Traveled with children

My family of 7 booked this cruise about a year ago and were really looking forward to it. We got a 2-bedroom suite and all 7 of us stayed there together. Room number was 8668. We paid about $5,500.

Family consists of two adults, and 5 kids, ages ranging from 10-15. Two were un-vaccinated due to age (vaccine was not authorized for their age at the time)

5 night cruise was originally on Brilliance of the Seas from Tampa then to Cozumel then to Grand Cayman, then back. They then changed it and replaced Grand Cayman with Puerta Maya. Then they changed ships to Serenade of the Seas. Then they changed the itinerary again, avoiding Mexico altogether. Still departing from Tampa, we then went to Nassau, CocoCay, then back to Tampa.

Cabin Review

Owner's Suite - 2 Bedrooms

We had room owners suite. All 7 of us were in there -- Mom and Dad in the master, 4 kids in the 2nd bedroom (each had their own bed!) and one on the sofa bed in the living room. It was mostly fine. Stateroom attendant (Sean) was awesome. Hard to stop your sliding glass door from sliding back and forth if you were out on the balcony. We'd often get locked out because someone inside locked it!

Not enough outlets, kids were constantly fighting to be able to charge their phones. Master room and bathroom was pretty nice -- lots of storage throughout the room. TVs were small and had poor programming and frequent poor signal (why doesn't the ship have its own programming hub rather than relying on satellite?)

We used the coffeemaker a lot

Had good water pressure

Had 2nd, smaller bathroom (we frequently let the kids use the master bathroom too)

Mostly quiet

Lots of storage

Faaaarr away from the centrum/nearest elevator/nearest stairs (there are no stairs or elevator anywhere in the aft of the ship)

There was some prop/engine "wiggle" back there.

The boat rocking one night made everyone motion sick.

Good view from large balcony, where there are two chairs, a table, and a lounger.

Enough seats in the room for 5 at a time (two on couch, two dining chairs, plus an extra lounging chair)

Port Reviews

Construction going on a port. Pushy people trying to sell hair braids and trinkets and taxi rides. US embassy under major construction. Walked up to the Queen's steps through some sketchy neighborhoods with no sidewalks. "Custodian" of the steps forced us to listen to his spiel and requested a tip after. It ended up being pretty good and we indeed tipped him, but I don't like being lied to/swindled as he was obviously not any kind of employee or custodian.

Lots of touristy shops, bars, etc. It was okay, but not a great place. Felt "mostly" safe but was on-guard most of the time.

Perfect Day at CocoCay

Pretty cool place, actually. Lots to do and see. Thrill waterpark was great, but altogether too expensive an upcharge. Place was empty despite two ships being there at port. Wish call time hadn't been so early. Would have liked to stay there late -- we all left earlier than we wanted to.
