we have been avid silver seas fans. unfortunately on our last cruise, they dropped the ball in so many ways. we had been on seabourn exactly twelve years ago to the week, that was on the odyssey. we decided to give seabourn another try. we were thrilled with the experience. cruising in the time of covid requires a tremendous amount of nerve and patience. we had to have pcr's test, then a nasal swab to get on board. once on board, the ship is stunning. essentially new as it was put in water right before the pandemic. the staff is tremendous. some of the most attentive i have encountered. the food and ship wines were okay, not great. we do not cruise to eat so we didn't mind. the grill by thomas keller is outstanding. one of the top ten meals of my life. it was my son's 27th birthday and they made him a special cake to celebrate. the wines off of their premium menu are fantastic. our sommelier, dimitrov, recommended a sancerre which we loved and found back in the states(just ordered). the stops were great. the tours(we only do half day) were well organized, interesting and fun. we did the benanti vineyard in sicily and it was one of the highlights of our trip. also the gym is huge and well stocked. we worked almost daily. we loved everything about the seabourn, from the seabourn square to our beautiful penthouse suite room to the retreat. everything was topnotch. no expense spared. we will be back!! ps in the time of covid, unless you have antibodies, which my husband, my son and i do, you are taking a gamble. if you test positive, you will be quarantined. hopefully the world will end the madness of testing as it is now an endemic disease.
