This was a get-back into cruising shape cruise to celebrate my spouse's very big birthday. Celebrity has lead the way for Caribbean cruising out of Fort Lauderdale, so after watching several months of trouble-free cruises complete their trips, we chose the Edge.

The Edge has its' own terminal (25) that offers you a preview of what you'll find onboard with its' contemporary architecture and high-tech check-in system. I should mention one little drawback right now: it's a bit of a hike from the nearest garage for all of you local cruisers, and that hike is followed by an equally long one from check-in to ship entrance. If you have mobility issues, do arrange for a scooter/wheel chair.

Upon entering the vessel, a small group of the crew greets you with applause! They're also there at your departure - very nice touch! The ship is magnificent - no other way to put it. This was unlike anything other ship we've sailed on and we've been about 50 cruises over the last 30 years, mostly with Princess, but with Viking Ocean and River, Holland, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity Solstice class, and other lines no longer with us. The Edge stands alone with its' unique design and well-appointed interior. The best in the business architects and Interior Designers have combined to create the most modern, contemporary interiors you'll ever see on sea. The interiors also contain a floating modern art museum with unique pieces throughout the ship. Don't miss the Enchanted Forest leading to the incredible three-story Eden at the aft of the ship, or the live mural at Eden's entrance.

Cabin Review

Sky Suite

Lovely room with hi-tech controls that you can operate from your phone or a wall-mounted touchpad - Lights, drapes, & HVAC. King-sized bed faced the balcony - wake up to the sea each day! Bathroom behind the bed featured a large step-in tub/shower, separate commode, and a mirror over the sink that you could slide open to a clear window, also looking at the sea.

Retreat class rooms comes with a Personal Room Attendant (think Butler), that is seemingly always around and ready to serve anything you may want. We were on the 10th floor.

Port Reviews

Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

Easy drive for us to the pier.

Nassau

Early arrival (7am) on Day 1 departed at 1 pm. We didn't get off, but it was picturesque.

St. Maarten

Took a ship tour to Beach and Lunch. Beach was nice and the lunch was good. Beverage service available on the beach and a chair and umbrella ($5) were offered.

St. Thomas

Best tour for us was the Secret Sands tour that took us across the island to a beautiful powdery sand quiet beach. Lovely.
