We had never done transatlantic, wanted to do the Caribbean and thought a ship using sterling would be easier. Travelling with a friend, 1 late 60s, 1 early 70s. We had only done Australia and the Pacific Islands before. We booked just before covid started, but we had booked for this date. We booked a suite to treat ourselves, butler and all. He is wonderful by the way. Dining - Horizon is dreadful. The food is always either lukewarm or cold. I had chicken noodle soup one day, it looked quite ill and if there was chicken in there it must have been finely ground, breakfast bacon is cold and hard, toast is always stone cold. The clearing away to prepare for the next meal, which starts at 12 ranges from 10 am to 10.30, or whenever they choose. Waiters, very politely I must say will come to tell you they are closing the breakfast buffet at 10.20. Some people are still coming in at that time.

We booked Eric Lanlard high tea on the Monday for the Tuesday, they cancelled it, we never found out why. Booked again for the Wednesday and received a phone call at 9am Wednesday morning, we were still asleep in bed, to say we were the only people going and would we mind going on Thursday, fair enough we agreed although in our sleep haze forgot to get name of caller. Turned up there on Thursday at 3 to find a very abrupt waiter who 'knew nothing'. Went to reception and spoke to a polite but indifferent receptionist who pretty much said it was our mistake- it wasn't, we wrote it down when we got the phone call.

Cabin, what can I say. They advertise it as extra large so you can entertain - my 6 grandchildren , all under 11, wouldn't have fit in. It is dark brown wood all through, very depressing, if they had come at that time to say tests were positive we would have happily taken a refund and gone home. Balcony, very narrow, but it is longer than others. No lights where you need them ie near wardrobes, have to turn bedroom lights on to see anything.

Cabin Review

As above, but I wouldn't book again.
