This is my 35th RCCL cruise on the newer Odyssey OTS,. I was having lunch in the Windjammer buffet, and they have a large variety of baked breads and rolls, but no rye bread was displayed. Being original from NY, I enjoy a good deli sandwich on rye bread. I happened to see my section head waiter, Jayson, from the MDR and asked him why they did not have any rye bread. He said he would check. Later that evening, Jayson came up to me in the MDR and advised that they do have rye bread, but you cannot get it from the line server, you have to ask a crew member who wears the applet shirts in the Windjammer and he can call down to the galley and have the bread sent up to the buffet. I was impressed, that he took the time to inquire and have a positive answer. This show the commitment of the RCCL team member for customer service and satisfaction.

The ship is beautiful, although it has does not have an center promenade, but what they call an esplanade. The esplanade is in the center and has two levels of shops and restaurants, it feels smaller then the promenade on other even smaller RCCL ships, it takes some time to getting used to it.

Another strange thing is that they 'stuck" the Playmakers sports bar on the 16th deck at the extreme rear of the ship, port side. There is no sitting at the long bar due to covid concerns, and even if you could sit at the bar, you have to lean back into your chair to see the televisions above the bar area, Also, there other seating areas of tables are in small cubicles the about two and three tables, so if you want to watch multiple sporting events, to have to look back and forth from one walled TV to another. I would have been nice if they had put the Playmakers sports bar at a lower deck where there is more foot traffic, like Freedom OTS that has its Playmakers adjacent to the casino, or the Oasis OTS on the Boardwalk.

Cabin Review

nice standard ocean view balcony that did not feel any larger than the "spacious" ocean view balcony stateroom. My stateroom steward was friendly, courteous and filled all of my requests. I prefer to use the term "stateroom steward" instead of "stateroom attendant" as they do more that just make you bed. The stateroom stewards do make you feel special.

Port Reviews

Costa Maya

Did not get off the ship, not much for a senior citizen to do at this port.

Cozumel

Did not venture past the port shops, the shopping area is slowly coming back to pre pandemic activity. I had to get the pure vanilla, there were several "labeled brands" I inquired which was the best brand, and the clerk said they are all the same, just different labels.

Perfect Day at CocoCay

Its ALWAYS a Perfect Day at Coco Cay, a fabulous fun island with activities for all and very good dining offers
