BACKGROUND INFORMATION

After a 16-month suspension of service for the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s been 510 days since the Encore has had paying passengers grace her decks. It is time for the Norwegian Encore to cruise again and there is no better place to restart cruising than majestic Alaska! NCL has called this The Great Cruise Comeback.

Protocols on This Cruise: We want to cruise. NCL want to keep us safe. With Norwegian, NCL’s leading Health & Safety Program allows us to cruise with the ultimate freedom and confidence. All guests and crew are required to be 100% fully vaccinated so we can safely do what we’ve always wanted to do on a cruise — EVERYTHING. Let’s get back to living life to the fullest, together. Sail Safe. Feel Free.

Cabin Review

Mid-ship Mini-Suite with Balcony

Deck 14 Mid-ship

We had a standard Club Balcony Suite. The room sizes and balcony sizes in this class of stateroom are the same as a standard balcony. The only difference between a balcony and Club Balcony Suite is the size of the bathroom. The Club bathroom includes a full size shower (versus transporter tube) and a double sink (that only one person can comfortably stand in front of).

It was a well appointed room. Standard NCL Balcony/Mini with a queen size bed next to the closet and sofa at the balcony door (our preference). Not a lot of space (but none of the NCL big ships have large room space).

It is important to remember that a Club Balcony Suite is not a Suite. It carries no suite privileges. It is just a regular room. NCL boasts about the additional amenities:

• Pre-book entertainment and dining 125 days prior to sailing

• Complimentary treats delivered to your stateroom

• Complimentary bottle of sparkling wine

• Complimentary choice of one valet laundry or pressing service

• Room Service offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner

Treats: I think we got a couple of treats with the room including a plate of cookies (which you could get from the Observation Lounge or Buffet)

Sparkling Wine: is offered to all returning guests, so no benefit to us.

Free Laundry: This is a fill-a-bag service (as much as you can stuff in a laundry bag). Good to reduce work once you get home. We’re diamond members, so we get two free bags already, no real benefit to us.

Room Service: Didn’t use. We just walked to the Observation Lounge or Buffet and grabbed a plate of cheese, meats, and cracker for snacks.
