This is a review of the repositioning cruise of the Serenade of Seas sailing from Los Angeles to Miami through the Panama Canal. The Serenade started sailing again in the summer of 2021 in Alaska. The crew boarded in late June, quarantined on the ship and started sailing in Mid-July from Seattle to Alaska and back in one-week cruises.

On September 25, all guests departed the ship and the Serenade sailed for five days down to Los Angeles with only the crew on board. On October 1, 2021 we boarded. As there are many reviews of the ship and ports, this review will only focus on the changes that occurred while sailing in the “Post Cruise Pause” era.

To cruise, guests must be vaccinated AND have a negative test report within two days prior to sailing. Non-vaccinated guests were allowed, but it only appears to be in the age group where vaccines are not yet approved, specifically children under the age of five. There were three children in that category on this cruise.
