About the Reviewer: I’m in my late 30s and sailed on the Oasis of the Seas solo on the October 10th to October 17, 2021 cruise. This was my 48th overall cruise and my fifth with Royal Caribbean. I booked under an amazing solos rate for a balcony room. This ship was chosen due to its size and the lower passenger counts and amount of fresh air venues within the ship. Over half my sailings have been with NCL and a handful with Celebrity, MSC and Carnival each. I tend to tell my reviews in chronological order so guests can follow along with what I did and when it was done.
Day 1 – Embarkation Day
I booked this cruise close in and booked a same day flight into Newark, NJ. Coming into Newark was easy but once I got into the airport, it was a sea of humanity and I was quickly lost trying to find the luggage carousel as the TSA line was blocking the way. Once I obtained my luggage, I took an Uber to the cruise port.
Cabin Review
Ocean View Balcony
The room key was in the mail slot at the door upon arrival to the room. I found this unique as usually NCL will issue your keycard before you even board the ship. It was also RFID based so you just tapped it to enter the room. The room itself was in pristine order and the stateroom steward, Niko, kept it as such the entire voyage with three evenings featuring towel animals. The balcony was spacious and had a full-size table on it. I found this convenient for the room service breakfasts I had daily out there. The room also featured two non-medical grade RCCL logo face masks and a bottle of hand sanitizer on the counter. The only bad feature with this room was the entry door, the faceplate for the deadbolt section was protruding preventing the door from properly closing without pushing it on exit or pulling it closed upon entry. Outside of that, it was a great location one deck up and close to the elevators from Central Park. On embarkation day, this room also had a great view of the Manhattan skyline and the Statue of Liberty.
