We chose this cruise because we heard Uniworld cruises provided a high level of luxury. It lived up to our expectations.

The tour began in Cairo where we were lodged in the Nile Ritz-Carlton Hotel, with a view across the Nile River. The hotel was outstanding; excellent service at all levels, delicious, well prepared food and great comfort. From the hotel we started our cruise on the Sphinx in Luxor. The Sphinx was beautiful. This was the boat's maiden voyage. We had a suite, with a French balcony, and a full bath. The room was very comfortable.

Our tour included visits to multiple sites, including the Ali Baba Mosque and National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Cairo, the temples of Karnak and Luxor, the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Kom Ombo and a visit to Abu Simbel. All of our tickets to any site were included in the tour. Our tour guide, Hany, was a highly educated Egyptologist. He provided a wealth of information for every site we visited, and additionally gave us an insight to contemporary Egyptian culture and its mixture of Coptic Christian and Islamic cultures. He also went out of his way to help us in negotiating purchases from vendors and guiding us to reputable shops. Anyone who finds themselves on a tour with Hany should count themselves lucky. We had Egyptian and Nubian folk dancing and music in the evenings for entertainment.

Cabin Review

Grand Suite

The cabin was beautiful and very comfortable. It had double sliding glass doors for a great view of the river and scenery as we cruised. For privacy the doors had beautiful wood panels. The full bath was wonderful, and almost a spacious as our bath at home with separate tub and shower. Plenty of storage space. There were a couple of hiccups, for example drawers in cabinets sticking, but the boat was brand new and the company was very receptive to getting those issues dealt with.

Port Reviews

Aswan was part of our river cruise. We had a short sail on a traditional felucca, and a tour of the Nubian village which was built by the Egyptian government for the Nubian people displaced by the Aswan high dam and Lake Nassar
