We chose ACL's Lower Mississippi cruise from Memphis to New Orleans based upon a very good experience on an ACL Columbia and Snake Rivers cruise in 2019.
Due to a scheduling glitch, ACL rebooked our cabin and cruise without informing us. Our travel agent was livid, and got us a significant cabin upgrade on a rescheduled cruise on one of ACL's newest ships, the American Jazz. Though the ship is beautiful and well-equipped by river cruise standards (we've sailed on several around the world), service was poor to the extent that we are not likely to sail with ACL again.
Food was OK, the staff was congenial and the entertainment & lectures were average by river cruise standards (i.e., not like ocean-going cruises); these were within our expectations. However, there were so many little annoyances, any one of which could have been overlooked, that in total led to a very disappoint experience. Dining room conversations confirmed that we were not alone in these opinions. Here they are...
Wonderful, spacious two-room suite near the ship's stern. Plenty of room and storage. Full-sized bathroom with large, walk-in shower. Coffeemaker and fridge.
Some noise and vibration from ship's engines when pulling out of port. Noise seemed to go away once we were cruising.
