Embarkation in Southampton was the best we've ever had. Arrived at 11:30 was onboard the shop by 11:45! Greeted by friendly staff with free Champagne/Juice handed out. Headed up to Oceanview Cafe for some lunch, modern stylish buffet with various stations with excellent hot and cold food. Ice creams amazing! Went to stateroom which was a sky suite. Darleen our cabin stewardess and Alex our butler were superb! Spacious room with balcony and lots of storage space! Ate mainly in Moonlight Sonata Dining Room. Select Dining worked very well for us. My My Dad and I (Ben - 15), as we don't like to have a set dining time. Waiting staff very friendly, food was well presented and delicious. Bars and lounges are of a good size with reasonable priced drinks and coffees. Cafe Al Bacio & Gelateria was a very pleasant area, ice creams were lovely here as well. Ship was very stable felt as though we weren't even moving! Port of Cork was very nice, we were the 500th cruise ship to dock there and it was also the ships maiden call which was nice. Didn't opt for any excursions as train station right opposite the cruise terminal. On the 3rd night as we were suite guests we received 1 complimentary select dining reservation. We dined in Qsine right opposite the Captain. Amazing experience, I particularly liked the menus on iPads, parents found it confusing though, food was delicious and a quirky experience, met the head chef, thanked him, we would definitely go there again and Tuscan Grill's menu looked appealing. The entertainment was superb from the premiere of "Eclipse - The Show" to the other shows. All bands were good. Cruise director Nick Weir was very good, better than others we've experienced on Cunard and P&O. Swimming pools were lovely, didn't use outsides as it was quite cool, but the indoor solarium was lovely (I liked the massive loungers and private cabanas/ hammocks). Overall the ship was amazing, very modern and clean and caters for all. We were so overwhelmed that we are going onboard the Eclipse again in August to the Mediterranean. Thoroughly recommend the eclipse!
