I have sailed multiple time with Royal. First Cruise since Covid. Concerned to say the least. RCCL, again showed why they are on top of their game. Safety, safety and safety were number one. They were always the "clean cruise line" with hand washing and gel stations, but they upped their game. They had extra personnel handling common use areas, drink machines, ice cream machines, buffets etc. No one was allowed to reach in or touch certain areas. They had personnel wipting down every conceivable commaon area, railings, elevator buttons. Their common restrooms had motion detectors to open doors, so you did not have to grab a handle. Shows*, food, service all what you would expect from Royal. All very good. The workers were so appreciative of passengers. Many of them have not worked in over a year. they were very acommodating. The ship is only sailing with 1/3 capactity, although this does not make money for RCCL, it gave us passengers a sense of well being. Not at all cramped and very spacey. (A colleague went on the other clown show cruise line early this year and said it was packed and no real cleaning protocols, many were sick on that cruise, see headlines) The only area of disappointment, and not for us mind you, was the wait lines outside to get in. RCCL does three separate checks of sea pass, vacinatoin cards (if vaccinated) and the 48 hrs Covide test, before being admitted to security screening. We arrived a bit early and got on the ship at our appointed time. HOwever there were many people lined up outside, confused about which line to get into, etc. Other than that, a really clean, safe and fun cruise. Felt good to be crusing again after 19 months.
The 1977 ice show is probably one of the most entertaining ice shows I ve seen in years. The costumes, the talent, and whole show was great.
