During a previous cruise, many fellow passengers said this was the best American mainland cruise they have been on. We agree. Scenery was phenomenal, going from the rain forest in Astoria, OR to wheat fields in Clarkston, WA. Excursions were interesting with very knowledgeable and entertaining guides. Focus was on Lewis and Clark's travel through the area. The small towns we visited turned out to be very interesting. Ship is brand new and roomy with lots of places to lounge outside your cabin. Never had to look for a spot to sit on the upper deck. It was a treat to have 2 venue choices for breakfast, lunch and cocktails on a small ship. Food choices were excellent. The Portland, OR hotel ACL partners with, Red Lion on the River, is just OK, but very convenient to the airport and the dock is right there. We came 2 days early to explore Oregon and the staff handled the transition. Embarkation was a little disorganized but everyone got Covid tested and onboard without any issues. We were concerned about travelling during the Covid Delta variant but everything went smoothly. Dining room staff was a little inexperienced (as is the case with the entire food service industry during this pandemic) but not as bad as we expected based on other reviews. All other parts of the cruise were better than expected. Overall, we are very happy with the trip.
