We were totally misled. This ship (Spirit 2) was supposed to cruise Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands. The name of the tour needs to be changed to Stop and Dock. We NEVER spent one day cruising. It was advertised with one (1) day at sea and we had NONE.....Zero.....Zilch. We stayed at a dock every night except one where we anchored. There was nothing to see in any of the towns we stopped in other than walking around mainstreet and then returning to the ship. The tours were mediocre except one that was the jet boat tour which was excellent.The ship (Spirit2) is so old it should have been turned into making razor blades 10 years ago. The boat carpets were dirty, the elevator stopped working for two days affecting a number of elderly guests, our bathroom had mold on the tile, our air conditioning vent was coated with dust and dirt and, best of all, you could not sit in a chair on the balcony because your knees would not fit (they hit the railing). We paid ($11,300 for this cruise) and were told we would have a Premium upgraded room.....how pathetic. The railing was so narrow on our outside balcony that you had to pick up the chair over the railing and bring it back down on the deck side way so you sit in it and either look forward or aft. Our cabin floor had a bow in it so that every time you walked over the area it popped down and then back up again making a loud noise. Our alleged Cruise Director was some young wanabe that could not speak sound English. Three times during a presentation he stated " Me and Joel (Hotel Manager).......everyone looked at him like he had three heads. During one night of true or false.....he struggled all night trying to pronounce words and sentences and then finally admitted he CAN'T read Cursor! Are you kidding me American Cruise LIne???? This is the best you could find for a cruise director? Shame on you! The only thing good on this Stop and Dock tour was Jeremy who was in charge of the dining room and staff. The food was excellent and Jeremy was Outstanding. This trip was so bad I could not (in good conscience) rate it above 1/2 of 1 out of a 10 point rating system. They get a 1/2 only because of Jeremy. Buyer beware. If you have any thoughts of taking this alleged cruise of Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands on American Cruise lines on the Spirit 2 be warned that you would be better off spending half the amount on a real cruise either on Celebrity or Princess where you will get what you paid for. We did not and neither did any of the other 54 passengers on our trip. I will never again book with this company and will make sure I let everyone I can in my community of 3,000 homes what a disaster this cruise is.
