So this cruise was for my husband's 50th birthday. Many cruises didn't happen before this one due to Covid. I had orginally booked this cruise on Brillance of the Seas. It got upgraded to Independence of the Seas then to Odyssey of the Seas. As many of you know these were huge upgrades. Don't get me wrong I love Brillance of the Seas and have been on it a few times but to go from that ship to the Odyssey was awesome. Now my one negative note, I am not a fan of the quatum class of ships but I was happy to be cruising again so that didn't detour any of my giddiness to be on a ship again. The ship is brand new, clean and awesome! The art work around the ship blew me away. The staff was friendly and happy to be there. I am a coffee drinker and saw the Starbucks on the first day and quickly met Alexander who made me laugh and had a smile for me every time I showed up for my morning coffee. Now I wish I could remember my awesome bartender's name, I think it was Oumesh. But if you are lucky to have him he makes a mean Lime & Coconut drink. The food on the ship was amazing. We did some specialty dining. We went to Chops twice, Giovanni's Table once and Playmakers once. Giovanni's was more Jaime's Italian then the Giovanni's on older ships. I was not a fan of Jaime's Italian but I did enjoy it more this time than the last. Warning the hamburger at Playmakers is massive and I wish we didn't order the nachos (which were good) if we had know how big of a hamburger was coming our way. The ship felt empty due to them not sailing yet at full capacity. We had no problems ever getting an elevator and we were normally the only people on the elevator. Nice right!!! The only times you could feel somewhat of a crowd would be in the Windjammer and it really wasn't a crowd. No one seem to go to the dining room for breakfast. I love going for breakfast. Less crowded and a nice reminder that I am on vacation and want to be served. Staff once again, awesome and happy to be there. Pancakes were made to order and you could clearly tell by the first bite. Anyways we got the bid on a upgrade to our room and I bid on a grand suite (i knew that bid would not be accepted) and I bid on a junior suite. We got the junior suite and it had TWO bathrooms. It was awesome and I am so happy I got to bid on the room and that our bid was accepted. If given the chance I would do it again and again. Trivia was fun and we only went to one show (magician) he was great. Anyways we got home and immediately wanted to go on another cruise. I hope cruising continues.
Junior Suite . Bid on an upgrade and got a beautiful junior suite. Room was huge, balcony was a nice size and of course a second bathroom. At first I was why would we need a second bathroom over a walk in closet. It was nice to have the option while someone was in the shower. So one bathroom has a tub/shower combo, sink and toilet. Second bathroom just has a sink and toilet. Both beautiful. All the cool features of the room could be controlled by an option on my phone. Plenty of plugs for electronics and I could use my streaming accounts on the tv since I had purchased the internet package. Beautiful room and beautiful ship
We love Coco Cay! We had originally purchased tickets into the Coco beach club. Back when I had originally booked this cruise Covid was projected to be over. So I thought a break from crowds would be great. After our final upgrade of ship to Odyssey everything I had pre booked got rebated and then Royal Caribbean was charging over $100 more per person to go to the Coco Beach club. So many another time. But had a great time at Coco Cay. If the only place we could go on a cruise is to Coco Cay I would book that cruise.
