What a great cruise. This was our 2nd cruise. We were 4 in our party, my husband, daughter, nephew and I. All adults. We traveled by car the day before the cruise and stayed at the Courtyard Marriot near the airport. Wish we could have taken advantage of the hotels offered by the Carnival, they offer a great room rate, but didn't want to be tied down with a room reservation if in case we didn't make it to Jacksonville the day before the cruise. We had booked 2 connecting cabins on Main Deck, but got upgraded after I sent an email requesting a free upgrade. We got bumped up one deck to Upper, but not connecting cabins, which wasn't a big concern. For embarkation, seemed like everyone arrived at the same time around 12:30. We dropped off our luggage with a porter while took a while and got in line, while my husband went park the car. Parking lot was in walking distance. The line was constantly moving, which was nice. Once on the ship we headed for the Lido Deck buffet line, but the line are extremely long, so we headed for the pizza bar. This line was a bit slow, but worth the wait. After eating we headed to our cabins. Most of our luggage had been delivered, but was still waiting on one piece. Our cabin steward came by to introduce himself, I told him about the luggage, and he said he would keep an eye out for it, which arrived by 5:00. Cabin steward was very nice and friendly. He did an awesome job in our cabin, always had fresh towels.

This was our downtime, so we didn't have a schedule to keep. We slept late and ate late. We would usually miss the scheduled dining times. Breakfast for us was at 10 or 10:30, which was the end of serving times, but still plenty of food. For lunch, which would be around 2 or 3 in the afternoon, we ate what was available. You can't go wrong with the pizza and sandwiches. The cheeseburgers were just as delicious. Room service was just as good, and pretty quick if you didn't want to fight the lines.

For dinner we chose the anytime dining, which was new to us. It was great! We didn't feel pressured by getting ready for a certain time to eat. We generally would go to dinner around 7:00 or 7:30 p.m. There was really no wait, we simply walked up to the hostess every night and were seated right away. We didn't have the same wait staff or table every night, but the service was just as good every night. The food was good, soups were awesome. I tried the pumpkin soup, onion soup and chicken soup. Delicious and flavorful.

Typical cabin on a cruise ship. I just need a space to sleep and shower, location is not a concern for me. We stayed in an inside cabin, which I like because we sleep in, no daylight to bother you. Two closets were nice. Bathroom is small, but we managed, need more hooks to hang things in bathroom. Not enough electrical outlets, only 1. More shelving in cabin would be nice. Bed was very comfortable. The best sleep I have gotten in a while.
