This cruise was chosen because we'd had to cancel two Alaska Cruises in 2019. The fact that ALL passengers needed to be fully vaccinated was important. Also, they added the additional requirement of needing to have negative results from a Covid test within 72 hours of our departure from port. Of course masks were required as well. These requirements helped alleviated concerns that Covid could spread quickly on the ship. Plenty of hand sanitizer everywhere, and before entering into a restaurant we were asked to use it. Before entering the big buffet dining area there were hand washing stations and we were asked to wash our hands before going in. I appreciated their attention to these details. The cruise was relaxing. The ship was beautiful and our stateroom was very comfortable. We booked a mini suite with an adjoining room with the couple we cruised with. The steward for our rooms took very good care of us, putting a fresh bucket of ice in our mini refrigerators daily. This was a medallion class cruise which means we needed to download a special app to our phones prior to departure. This was an extremely frustrating experience for us. Once we got past that and were able to order our medallions for the cruise we relaxed. The embarkation process was amazingly quick and smooth. Once aboard the ship, the food was varied and tasty. All the staff that we encountered were friendly and helpful. The ship was out on open sea and there were some choppy waters but mostly it was smooth sailing. I believe that Princess cruise lines was very attentive to everyone's needs - - having plenty of staff waiting on us no matter what part of the ship we were on, asking for drink orders, providing blankets if needed out on the deck. LOTS of opportunities to have pictures taken in order to view them in the photo gallery and decide if you want to order any. It was very nice to place an order and receive those before even stepping off the ship at the end. Booking excursions ahead of time was easy.
We had a mini suite with a balcony on the Marina deck (deck 15), starboard side. There was an overhang from the next deck above us. While that was nice, in the event of rain, it hindered the ability to take some pictures because the edge of the overhang was in the way. So, if I were to do this again I'd book one deck lower. The bed was very comfortable, there was a sitting area with a couch, desk chair, little table. Plenty of hangers in the closet and shelving. A safe in the stateroom also. You can adjust your own temperature setting in your room. Extra comforter stored under the bed in case you need it for sitting out on the balcony in cool weather. Hair blower; body wash and shampoo provided.
