We've been wanting to try a cruise on the edge since it was released, however coppit prevented that for quite some time. So, we were very excited when the opportunity opened or cruises out of Fort Lauderdale to the eastern Caribbean. The ship is only about 1/3 occupied which made things much easier with no crowds, no lines, and a very quiet cruise.
The crew was very attentive to the passengers as always, but it seems there were as many passengers as there were crew members, so the service was even better than usual.
With all passengers 16 years old and over being required to have the COVID vaccination before boarding, along with a negative COVID Test 72 hours or less prior to the departure, and all of the crew required to be vaccinated, we felt quite safe. Not to mention the continuous sanitizing all public areas, resting everyone's concern about contamination. In the Oceanview Café (buffet) it was not self-service, but cafeteria style with the crew handling all the food and utensils before serving you’re the dinner plates, this was a great approach to prevent cross contamination. This prevented individuals from touching the food and the utensils, and any kids playing with the food while unattended, which has seemed to happen on so many prior cruises. I hope this process is a permanent change and continues after the pandemic is behind us.
Watch out for the "Partially Obstructed" views!!! The % stated is very much understated.
