A little background first…… We, like most of the world, we’re anxious to get out and explore after 16 months of lockdown! We chose to go on Windstar because the itinerary only included one port we had been to before (Tortola/Virgin Gorda.) Unfortunately shortly before our sail date we were notified the itinerary had completely changed. Our new itinerary was Barbados, Antigua and St.Lucia. All stops we have been to multiple times. We totally understood. Countries just weren’t letting tourists in. We decided to go on just for the experience.

We were told ahead of time we would not be allowed off the ship unless we were on a ship sponsored excursion. We are used to taking independent tours, but again we understood due to Covid.

In Barbados, we took a catamaran snorkeling trip. There were about 50 of us on that tour. They put us in two buses for social distancing. But we all got on the same catamaran. The highlight of this trip was supposed to be the sea turtles, but evidently the turtles haven’t been feed in the designated tourist area during Covid , so they did not show up. They went out and found their own food! Good for them! Snorkeling at the stops was crowded (which is why we normally book independent excursions) and very few fish. We felt like we wasted a couple of hundred bucks on this one!

Cabin Review

Star Porthole Suite

Cabin #307

This was an Ocean View cabin with two large portholes which let in plenty of light. We did not feel claustrophobic at all. The cabin is 275 sq.ft. which is very large by Cruise standards. Our cabin was practically brand new. The ship had been “stretched” and this was one of the cabins added during that process.

The bathroom was larger than we’ve seen on other cruises. The shower was actually full size. There was plenty of storage available.
