We chose this cruise as it was free balcony upgrades and kids sailed free and paid just over $900 for four nights. We had two vaccinated adults and two children under twelve. Embarkation was very smooth. We had an 11am arrival time and they didn’t ask us or check what time we had. We got tested upon arrival and waited about 25 minutes where our group then got to proceed to the next check in station. There the checked the kids pcr tests and our original vaccination cards and passports. I believe someone said there were only 1100 people on the ship which was a real treat! Upon entry to the ship you are given a tracking band which will be worn at all times. Vaccinated passengers will also have a white band. You will be harassed by several staff members to spend more money on drink packages and specialty restaurants and shore excursions. I was followed by one really pushy guy and it was uncomfortable. The drink packages were a rip off - they required the whole cabin to have a package even if you have kids so it would have cost us close to $700 for a four night cruise. The bar drink menu had fancy frozen drinks listed and they often told me they didn’t have the ingredients to make it. On day one the drinks tasted good and by day four they quality went downhill. We decided to go to the steakhouse the first night as it was a 15% discount and it was almost $140 for our meal and it was nothing great. They charged us for our kids who ate off the kids menu. Not cool. Food was overall very disappointing. I did not have one good meal and you’ll see other people raving about the pizza cause that’s the only fresh hot meal you will get on the ship. Even the burgers suck! There is no dessert at the buffet area at night so make sure you order it with dinner. The only late night food is pizza burgers and sandwiches. The free drinks are water lemonade (which they rarely had) cranberry juice and iced tea. You can’t get lemonade in the dining room. And one night they said no iced tea. The whole drink situation was annoying - they always wanted you to pay more. One day we decided to go to the restaurant for breakfast and I asked if they could bring my son a banana and they looked at me as if I had four heads. The portions are very small at all meals. This was our least favorite cruise food ever. Pool area was nice but the waterpark was far from the pool and you have to sign your kids up for time slots and there is nowhere for parents to sit and watch their kids so that was annoying. They had a ropes course for kids but overall the family entertainment was lacking or at inconvenient times (family game show at 10pm…. After a day in the hot sun kids are wiped) the arcade had 6 games and other pay for activities were lame. Kids club was boring (what kid wants to take language classes on vacation?) and my kids didn’t want to go. Activities like (mini golf at the pool which was one portable golf green) we’re for adults only. They didn’t even play movies on their huge movie screen by the pool at night. Dome show and lighthouse shows were pretty boring but the magic shows and singing shows did entertain the kids. Ocean cay was beautiful but my kids wanted to go on water slides. We did the ships snorkel excursion and only saw a handful of fish. Nassau sucked. The blue lagoon excursion was awful. There was low tide and hardly any water to swim in. For the price we paid we are glad we went but probably won’t be sailing with msc anytime soon. I do have to say they were very good about cleaning and health checks and wellness so they are killing it with that but the awful food and lack of fun activities really was a downer.

Cabin Review

Balcony cabin is too small for a family of four. No place to put clothing.
