We were invited as family/friends of Virgin Voyages to take part in a test trip from Portsmouth UK from 2-6 August and it was our first cruise. While of course there were some teething problems, the overwhelming response was that it was terrific fun, with a beautiful ship, staffed by wonderful people, with terrific food. Stand-outs were the Test Kitchen degustation menu and Pink Agave's modern Mexican food, and the Dual Identity circus performance. Extra points were awarded for the food because as vegetarians, we didn't feel left out - there were plenty of delicious options. The staff managed to be always available without feeling intrusive and were always friendly and inviting. We got to know many staff by name and they were brilliant at their jobs. The cabins were brilliant - you could request your bed to be turned into a fab L-shaped sofa by day, and the balcony with its own hammock was fabulous. We loved the tablet to control the room settings, with lighting effects including 'Get it On' and 'Hangover'! My only quibble was that the pool wasn't very big - you couldn't do laps in it, but it was clearly designed for sun-bathers rather than swimmers. If you're a cruise-skeptic or first-timer, and especially if you're a bit younger than traditional cruisers, then this is highly recommended. Thank you Virgin Voyages, we'll be back.

Cabin Review

The cabin was SO much fun. You could set a 'mood' via the tablet (including 'Hangover' and 'Get it On') as well as 'cinema mode' if watching one of the many movies. Great hammock, comfy bed. You could request it to be made into an L-shaped sofa which made it really liveable when we weren't sleeping.
