Just returned from 9 night Eastern caribbean on Explorer of the Seas. This was our 3rd cruise. First time with RCCL. Let me start with the good. The ship is in fine shape for its age. All public areas are immaculate and well cared for. The ease of leaving from Cape Liberty (we reside in Connecticut) was fantastic. The embarkation went well and the parking was fine. This is a great alternative to flying to your cruise. Our rooms (2 promenade on deck six) were fine for us. They were clean and the location was great. The stateroom attendant did a fantastic job keeping the room spotless. There was a little wear and tear on the furniture but given the age of the ship and the turnover this was predictable. The entertainment and the Cruise Director Jimmy Rhodes were A+++ every show we saw was great. Jimmies Love and Marriage Show was hysterical. The disembarkation went well once you are released but everyone seems anxious to get off the ship but once off it is well done. Overall I would give the trip a thumbs up and we have already booked again. However since this is a review I have a few negatives. These are not things that anyone can control but things happen. There were a noticeable amount of RUDE people onboard. I have never seen quite so much of this. These folks had very little respect for lines and no common courtesy for others and for the most part they were more than old enough to know better. They act as if they are the only ones on the ship. Although I did not let this ruin my trip it was omnipresent. There may be no answer to this type of problem but most of the offenders were elderly people. I was amazed. Finally we had a dining room table that was squeezed between two other tables where our chairs were on top of one another and the waitstaff had to climb all over us to serve the meal. It was not good dining . We should have changed but we enjoyed our tablemates company and did not want to disrupt them also. The waiters were also realatively new and not the best. I will say though we had friends on the other side of the Dining room who raved about everything so that may be the luck of the draw. Hope this is helpful to someone.
