Sail Date: Jul 2021

Our last cruise was ended on March 15, 2020, when we left the Celebrity Silhouette. We were scheduled to walk across the dock and board Celebrity EDGE. Imagine our surprise when we were told that ALL cruises were cancelled for an indefinite period of time. Who knew that it would be July of 2021 that we would officially cruise again? So many booked and cancelled cruises during that time. When we heard that APEX was going to sail in Greece, we were excited, but cautious, as we have cancelled so many cruises up until now. Even in Greece, we still weren’t sure she would sail! SO, here is the story of our trip on the beautiful APEX.

Having gained all the necessary documentation to fly to Greece, we arrived in Athens two days before the sailing date. We ALWAYS fly in early, as you just never know what can happen. Airline travel today is not fun, but it’s what you have to do to get to the end results. Arriving in Athens airport, we quickly got through all the checkpoints (as we had all documentation ready). Make sure that this is the first priority for you on any trip these days.

We always use BLACKLANE for our drivers. They are not inexpensive, but always on time and a great ride. We stayed in the wonderful Academias Hotel (run through Marriott) just a few blocks from the Acropolis. Absolutely wonderful stay in this boutique hotel. You cannot go wrong here. Our time in Athens was spent sightseeing and eating (we have been there several times before). No crowds whatsoever! Made it great to walk the Plaka, the Agoura and all of the other great ancient sites.

Cabin Review

We enjoyed our Sky Suite on this voyage. We upgraded from Concierge at the last minute and were very happy we did. The space was excellent for two persons. My wife enjoyed the expansive bathroom, with a big bathtub and shower. We also enjoyed the private balcony ( much better than the Infinity balconies). The perks that come with the suite were also a big plus as we used The Retreat each night for cocktail hour, as well as the Luminae dining room each morning for breakfast.
