Booked Vista villa # 14000 at a cost of $28,000 to complete writing my last two songs of the CD Project that I am working on and thought to complete it without any interuptions of phone calls etc., only to find out that the Piano in the room that was repeatedly assured by Ship's agent that it was in perfect working condition was found to be totally out of tune that needed serious tuning. Steam room was broken and it took them two days after my complaint to fix it, Jacuzzi was malfunctioning till they fixed it, none of the chord less phoned worked properly despite my repeated requests to replace or fix it which they never did, master shower head always slid down and one has to hold it to the height one wanted to take the shower, it is still not fixed, carpet was dirty and so was the the round leather sofa. Cabin service crew was superb. Amenities were neglected i.e., lights in the bathroom, lose shower head, toilet area needed more attention, room stationery needs to be improved, carpets and the furniture needs to be cleaned or upgraded as it is already dated and over used for its age, there are no time clocks (wonder why) unless one turns Channel 22 on TV, hand towels are too rough perhaps need a blended textile instead of 100% cotton that is rough, socks to walk around the rooms will be a good idea the kind that one gets in First class flights, also a good touch would be the night blinders for the eyes, shampoo and the supplies were very poor quality, toilet paper were like sand papers, lighting could be equipped with dimmers, overall room finish with the exception excellent wood finish needs improvement for the kind of suite one pays for it. It does not meet the standards of a 4 star hotel. At time or arrival the bus that took us to the ship was an old clunker (1980's MCI) with very bad smelly seats, broken foot rest, filthy interior and lacked the quality of Cruise ship Pearl claims and often boasts. Food was only good in Cagney and Bistro but rest of the food was terrible. Biggest rip off was the $20 a minute phone call from the ship and on top of it another rip off was the internet at .75 cents a minute. Bought the smallest bottle of Listerine at the "Duty Free shop" at a whopping price tag of $8.99 and cough lozenges at $5.99 each whereas in Seattle the same Listerine sells for $1.49 and the lozenges for .89 cents. It is the biggest disappointment and a total loss of my time. I failed to do what my purpose of the cruise was... to write and complete the songs. Wasted 7 days and did not accomplish anything. Only thing good was the service. Charlie and Rayan and the Indian and the Philippines staff in the Restaurants were great. It's a shame that no one in the organization cares much about quality control. They just clock the sheeps in and treat them like McDonald's or jail house barbecues near the pool everyday where they hand out food as though one sees in the prisons. Very undignified and uncultured way of treatment. I watched the outside barbecue from my suite and felt sorry for the passengers who perhaps saved and planned for years to be on this cruise only to be treated like sheeps. A very very disappointing and frustrating experience at a very high price tag that was not worth it. I bet the Piano is still out of tune as the next Cruise is already on its way to Skagway perhaps. My entire purpose of the trip was a total waste of time!
