  • Destination: the Western Caribbean
  • Cabin Type: Oceanview Stateroom

This was our first cruise with MSC and definitely will not be our last. We were a family of 4 (with 2 older teenagers 18 & 19) and stayed in an Oceanview cabin. We had heard previous complaints about the food but we could not have enjoyed it more. Our dining experience every night was outstanding with the best waiter Deano and Jay who we had the best time with. We thought the food quality and variety each night was amazing in the Marco Polo dining room. We went a show onboard which was very enjoyable but your average cruise ship standard. We thought the price of the drinks packages were wonderful for the variety and really loved the buffet for breakfast ( the bacon is amazing! ) and the pizza and burger stations for lunch after a busy day at port! All the staff were very friendly and provided everything we needed without hesitation. Our cabin was always cleaned perfectly. Yes the ship is smaller than most newer ships but it is still an amazing cruise experiences taking place all the time. Our favourite was trivia every night after dinner in the White Lion Bar and Pub. Overall we did not find any complaints and really loved all the different nationalities on board. The bad reviews about MSC are from Americans who are loyal to carnival, NCL and RCL. We are Europeans (from Ireland) and found MSC amazing and we have UK family who love it too. The only slight issue we faced was docking at a different port further from Georgetown in Cayman, however this was not any of MSCs but was because of last minute construction in the Georgetown Port. Overall do not hesitate to book with MSC for a great experience at amazing prices! We had the easy drinks package which is $25 pp per day and works out amazing for any drink up to $7 . This includes all spirits, some wines, and some beers.

Cabin Review

Oceanview Stateroom
Cabin O2 8123

The cabin was small for 4 adults however was always spotless clean and the beds were comfortable. The window was a nice size. The bathroom was typical small of older cruise ship bathrooms but you only use it for a quick shower. We thought this room was the best option because we only used it to sleep or get dressed.

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews

Irie Blue Hole

We were collected at the port and dropped off, we were given a tour with our family and another and loved the blue hole. We were then dropped back to the town for lunch. The bus driver provided great information all about the sights we drove past along the way.

Beach

We only had 4.5 hours here however we got cocktails in Margarittaville before getting a taxi $5 per person to Seven Mile Beach Royal Palms Beach Club! At Royal Palms they had changing rooms to get clean and dry before getting a taxi back again.

Chacchoben Mayan Ruins

The tour was amazing we were provided with ice cold bottled water and an air conditioned bus. Our tour guide made an effort to learn everyones name and gave great information the whole drive there. The ruins themselves were amazing and our guide provided a great tour and knew everything. We got dropped back to the port. The port was swimming pool, dolphins swims, a beach and many shops and restaurants so there is so much to do here.

Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve

We found Ocean Cay to be a beautiful place. The lighthouse lightshow at 9pm was definitely worth seeing and the parade with live music in the night time. We loved the beach here and the buffet was great food for a beach day. The drinks packages work on the island which is an added bonus! No money was needed this day and it was perfect.
