Wow, we had such a good time on this ship a holiday truly to remember!! We were on the fly-cruise which left Barbados on the 29th of February for two weeks.
First Day Barbados- We went by taxi to the beach we were told a price which we were reassured was return but upon return, we were asked to pay as it didn't include it so be careful!!! As much as they say it's a far distance it isn't a 15 min walk to town but there's not much to see there I would head straight to the beach which is amazing we went to the virgin part (red sunbeds) the wifi is amazing and even better free!! we did pay $25 however for the sun lounger but the exclusive area had showers and changing facilities so would recommend going there also is a bit more quieter.
Second Day- was a sea day where we got to know the ship and what was on offer people complaining about there not being enough lifts. They were slow at times but you can easily walk up the stairs easily not too much effort. Lunch there is pizza station by the pool where you can get fresh pizza and another burger station you also have the buffet which always had a nice selection. For excursion days there’s a grab and go fridge where you can take food with you while out. We dined at the limelight lounge where Gareth gates performed it was amazing food was brilliant best prawns I've had!!. It is very hard to get a sun lounger during the day because of people reserving them! although there is a policy against this it is not being enforced which is one of my only complaints. I mean we still managed to find them so I wouldn't worry too much. The adults-only area is nice with another pool although it was relatively busy we still managed to get drinks with ease which are very reasonably priced. In the late afternoon, there was poolside entertainment which was brilliant keeping the spirits high and holiday factor going!! Singing and dancing were nice to see everyone getting involved very good atmosphere.
Third-Day Curacao- We had a tour booked through the cruise ship before embarking booked online. We went around on the fun bus which took us to the Hato caves, Museum, and liqueur factory (the main stops) there were others in between. I would highly recommend. Before we went on the tour we walked around town nice shops within a 5 min walk from the cruise terminal. Evening we dined at the meridan we didn't have allocated dining which I find was actually better always could get a table with ease recommend going early 6:30- 7 it can get busy but wait wasn't too long even at peak. Our waiter was polite and nothing was to much trouble the meals in here are basically a small selection from the buffet with the exception of some other dishes which change every day so a good selection. At 8 pm they had a show on which occurs daily that we attended best to get in 10-15 mins before otherwise, it is hard to get a good seat. There are two showings another being at 10. The shows are always good never failed to disappoint a nice way to wrap the evening up for us. But the night does not stop there are so many other things to do but we were early sleepers
Fourth Day Bonnaire- We had nothing organized there are stalls as you walk further up and we caught a taxi to the beach which was $5 per person but wait for others so you can join otherwise the prices increases. The water was crystal clear however the beach didn't feel to clean and it was packed we found two sun loungers no one came to charge us probably because it was so busy so not sure how much it is. What we ideally wanted to do was to go to the casino resort which is a 5 min walk away from the cruise terminal they do day passes but are limited and we missed out on it because we were too late. The pass allows you to use all facilities and private beach. It looked really nice so I would recommend going there early to do that plus wifi that is included. We dined at the buffet in the evening doesn't feel tacky or cheap food is high quality, nicely laid out, and a big selection. We mainly dined here in the mornings as well again huge selection.
Fith Day Sea Day- Relaxing I believe it was a black-tie event not sure 100% as it was so time ago. But to note there were 4 black tie nights everyone dresses up and gathers at the main area center of the ship. We really enjoyed these evenings a nice atmosphere and live music changes daily but usually better on these nights. The meet the captain slot was excellent free unlimited prosecco!! hah. I got a picture with the captain and even a conversation.
Sixth Day Kingston St Vincent- We went to Villa Beach on a water taxi very choppy !! It feels like your going to fall out but we made it there and back. It was $5 pp return the beach was volcanic it has specs of black in the sand, was a nice beach free wifi which was good the sun loungers were $10 for one and extra for an umbrella. Overall a good beach it is small, started to get busy so try to get there earlier. Sit as far back as possible as the tide can get far in. Dined at the buffet food was a good different theme every day and entertainment excellent as always.
Seventh Day Grenada – We walked out of the cruise terminal are intention was to head straight over to the beach after looking around town, but we were collared by a private tour guide. After convincing us we took the tour it was $50 and we gave a $15 tip his name was mark and he was amazing took us round the island we bought some spices went rum tasting and he took us back to the beach. Evening routine as usual
Eighth day- St Lucia we took a tour from one of the stalls in the cruise terminal we were taken round to waterfalls but the main thing was to go to the mud bath really enjoyed it nice hot mud hah skin did feel better afterwards it does smell though ! couldn’t seem to get rid of the smell for ages from our clothes even after washing but after a second time It went! Was well worth it we paid about $60 for 3 of us. At the mud bath stop, you either have the choice to do that or have a look round the volcano. Evening routine as usual
Ninth Day Sea day- We spent the day relaxing on the deck in between which watched a movie in the studio by the photo gallery they have different films shown daily it is written on a newsletter given to you in the cabin be sure to read it has details of all the events going on in the ship for that day and on stop days information about the port so make sure you give them a read. Attended a talk about airplane crashes which was really interesting. Dined at the beach house absolutely amazing the food would 100% recommend dining here at least once nice to sit out by the sea for dinner as well. Special shout out to all the staff as well such good service. 7.50 pp well well worth it!!
Tenth Day Saint Kitts– Caught a taxi to the beach cockleshell free WIFI, beach up to the standard of the previous stop. We just relaxed got a cocktail from one of the shacks along the beach which good. Evening as usual we went for a walk top deck where there is a track certain amount of laps is a mile nice to do in the morning and evening.
11th Day Antigua- We took a tour organized from the cruise shop beach hopping by safari bus we went to 3 beaches which were very nice included free drinks one rum punch at it each beach very strong though. Sun Loungers are included in the price In the evening we decided to dine at Sindhu’s food was very good finally got to experience the towels that get created by pouring water. The scallops were so well cooked would recommend getting them. The only problem was the food wasn’t spicy and no chilis that we can add that was unfortunately that was across the ship but if you don’t like to spice your all good.
12th Day St Maarten- This was by far the best stop you MUST MUST go to Maho beach we caught a taxi there about $5 pp. this is truly a once in a lifetime experience watching how close the planes get to the beach wow!! Had such a good time even saw some big planes there is a timetable at the beach but you can also look online beforehand, so you know what time the big planes are getting there to plan ahead. There is a nice bar there where you can also get good views free WIFI as well. We didn’t get a sun lounger here there is no need they were charging a ridiculous price. This evening we went to the bar by the library at the front of the ship nice views and a live piano player. To note you can bring alcohol onboard we brought a 1tr of vodka onboard which we mixed we juices bought from other stops. We drank before we went out although prices are reasonable. There is also a pub on board if you’re a fan of beer.
13th Day Sea day- Final Relaxation!! Note The last performance at the theatre was very very good!
14th Day Barbados
We stayed in an inside cabin deck 10 back of the ship. It was spacious for the 3 of us 3rd bed comes down from the top. TV and the films included are the latest so for the in-bed evenings was a bonus. Plenty of hanging space for clothes so you don’t need to worry about that. White company soap etc 3 bottles are given they do not get replaced you just have to ask for new ones when you're finished. There is soap attached to the shower which will not need to be replaced. Our cabin steward was brilliant kept the room very clean. There was a laundry room located not too far from us which was handy free of charge to use just need to bring detergent. Some people complain about vibrations being at the back of the ship that was not much of a problem for us can't really say we felt it. In terms of location it was good just by the lifts and stairs. I would go for the balcony room personally but because we booked last minute the balcony room price was such a hike, so we stuck to inside. If you’re out all the time it's not much of a problem anyway. Wifi package you get a slip that you take to the library where your explained how it works we had the basic plan paid about 115 for two weeks for one device but you can use on as many devices just not at the same time. included browsing Facebook WhatsApp Snapchat etc it was very fast no problems with it at all. Cannot send photos on WhatsApp but can messages. and no streaming with the basic plan but you have FB and SC to send photos anyway. Would recommend it if you will make use out of it.
Everything on Britannia is amazing defiantly luxury from the food shops to entertainment. There is so much to do you will never get bored!!
I would recommend this to everyone.
I hope this helps when planning your next holiday!!!
